So, I read the reviews, I did some research and decided to purchased a King 5502- M Pellet stove.
What a great pellet stove for a few months. I, like many, have now had issues. I don’t have smoke in the house, I don’t have problems feeding pellets, unless you buy cheap pellets, but I’ll send something about that some other time. What I do have is a failure to light the Stove. I ran through all of the checks, let it spin up and watch for the glow of the igniter, but nothing ever comes of it. I did contact Customer Service for US Stove on the 19th of April 2018, however, I have not heard anything back yet.
Since this page is all about man things, it wouldn’t be right of me to just post that I couldn’t start my Stove, but I need to post what I did to light it, more than once. Supposing that US Stove does find this, they will probably never honor any sort of warranty or anything.
So, here we go, I use “Tonight’s the night” Logs from Duraflame and I cut them in half to light my wood stove upstairs in my home, I don’t like waiting and they work great to get even some wet wood going. For my King stove, I literally cut a hunk off of the Duraflame log, then put it in the Pellet cup, outside of the stove. I put some really long pieces of pellets in the cup as well. I then let the flame get going on the log part I cut out, and put it inside of the stove and shut the door. The draft, without the stove on will get it going enough, at least in my instance. Once it gets really going and has lit some of the pellets, i throw a bunch of pellets in on top of the lit pellets and the log portion I cut, then I turn the stove on. Sometimes it only takes a few seconds to get flame, sometimes a few minutes, but this has not failed me yet to start the stove. So, as a man, I made fire, got my stove going and feel really good that, I can tell my wife the stove is going. Now, I should tell you, this is what I did, I’m not recommending you do the same, or that you even try this, I’m just saying, it worked for me. I’ll let you know when US Stove gets back to me, since the stove was manufactured less than a year ago. More to come on this one.
